Hi,

The Wikipedian blog publishes a very
interesting post by Jake Orlowitz. It is interesting from various
aspects.

First and foremost the personal
experience and the link between Wikipedian enthusiasm and mental
health. My impression is that Wikipedia (and perhaps other similar
projects on the net) attracts exocentric people (me included),
which explains why it is often such a harsh environment. If you
allow me to exaggerate a bit, Wikipedia is an attempt to herd
overzealous opinionated cats, who often see the Internet as their
only outlet (and as I said, I've been there myself...).

This post is also interesting for
describing the role of Wikipedia as an "active journalism"
platform. In this case the role Wikipedians had in promoting the
Egyptian Revolution of January 2011.
