Hello!
I wanted to let you (esp. Mark Butler) know that I have also been working
on a project called "Unlocking the Groove" for almost two years now! My
project is focused on experimental turntablism and vinyl sculpture. Last
fall, I was commissioned by Winnipeg's 'send + receive' festival to create a
2-hour radio documentary to present some of my research and audio work. I
have uploaded the four, half-hour files to archive.org so that others can
hear them. There is also quite a bit of related information on one of my
websites, vinylinterventions.com.
Here are the links to the tracks on archive.org:

(i know, i know, the file names are not consistent - boring story)
And here is the link to the other site where you can find more info on my
research and practice:

It's funny that Mark and I would have chosen the same title for our
different work - it's not an obvious one ;)
To be precise, I used the title "Unlocking the Groove" for an exhibition of
sound art and vinyl sculpture that was featured at the Art Projects Gallery
in Regina in Dec. 2005, and I used the title "Unlocking the Groove: The
Synaesthetics of Experimental Turntablism and Vinyl Sculpture" for the title
of the radio documentary.
At any rate, I am excited to read Mark's work, and I hope you all enjoy the
radio documentary, when/if you have a few moments.
ciao,
carrie gates
