Hi - I've just joined the list.  Looks very interesting so far.  I'm  
looking forward to contributing a bit :)

So Re: the assemblage...

Deleuze and Guattari are definitely the place to start, but I'd go to  
Anti-Oedipus first.  The 'Assemblage' is essentially their concept of  
the 'desiring machine' (from AO) renamed in less psychonalytically- 
specific terms in A Thousand Plateaus.  Brian Massumi's User's Guide  
to Capitalism and Schizophrenia is helpful on this point.
