[Dancecult-l] Intro

Hello!

My name is Meghan.  I've been on the list for a few weeks now, but was 
reminded today to do my introduction after reading Adam's.  I've been a 
DJ in the Midwest for over 7 years (Pixie--I used to spin for Scarab 
Records in Indy but they have not done EDM events in at least 4 years, 
so while I finish school, I'm stuck in the bleak scene of Indiana.)  
I've always been interested in the culture in a more substantial and 
academic way and have looked for a way to reconcile my interest in this 
aspect of the culture for a long time.  It's been only this semester 
that I have found my way into the academic study of EDM culture and 
it's what I've been searching for, throughout my long stay in academia. 
  I'm very excited by the discussions I've witnessed over the last few 
weeks on Dancecult and look forward to participating in some of these 
great conversations.

I'm actually searching for some readings on community and genre, 
especially in relation to EDM, if anyone can help direct me.
