Next academic year (2007 – 08), London South Bank University requires an
hourly paid Temporary Lecturer in Sound Design production for 3 hours
per week in two semesters, for BA course Sonic Media. This would be an
ideal temporary post for a specialist in the field, either a PhD student
or an experienced professional with relevant HE qualifications.
BA (Hons) Sonic Media is one of 16 courses at the Department of Arts,
Media & English. This undergraduate course consists of 50% production
units (modules) and 50% theory units, whereby critical reflection is an
important aspect.
Students share general media and critical theory with other media
students. In addition, students engage with specific theoretical issues
as developed in popular music studies and in avant-garde sonic practices.
In the first two years, production units are offered in two strands:
Sound Design and Digital Music Design. In the third year, students work
in a more individual and independent context.
The required teaching would be for Level 2 production work in the Sound
Design strand. During the first semester, students' sound design will
focus on linear sound (including music) for film. In the second semester
there will be additional focus on teamwork in sound design and, if
relevant, on non-linear narratives (such as in games).
