[Dancecult-l] liveness

Anecodotal evidence from Baltimore earlier this month: Legendary rave
promoter Ultraworld now includes live bands, both EDM and not, at its
historically techno-rave summer event Starscape. My past experiences where
"ravers" met "rockers" were typically tense, grating affairs with little
mixing between crowds, snide comments, and sometimes - alluding to another
recent thread - violence, but this past Starscape was different with most
everyone seeming to check out different music genres and acting pleasant if
not downright exuberant to join together. I chalk it up to the public
growing bored with EDM formulas, something "liveness" mitigates. In other
words, rave fought the rock and the rock won.
