Pushing the analysis from the supply side, I've heard directly from USA
promoters/concert managers that they are simply fed up dealing with
primadonna DJs who require cash, first class air, limos, 5-star hotels and
"Paris Hilton" treatment before agreeing to perform vs. "live act"
performers who usually charge a lower all-inclusive fee, a few drink tickets
and handle their own travel, etc.
