Invitation

You are invited to the launch of the Interactive Media and  
Performance Labs in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of  
Regina (Saskatchewan, Canada) on Wednesday, April 2nd from 4 to 7pm.

The IMP Labs house a multi-media DJ interactive studio workshop and  
performance space, a beat-making and electronic music studio, an  
ethnomusicology lab, and research offices for graduate students and  
post-doctoral fellows. The labs have been created to support the  
research of Dr. Charity Marsh, Canada Research Chair in Interactive  
Media and Performance.

During the launch, Dr. Charity Marsh will present her 5-year CRC  
research programme which includes an emphasis on Canadian Indigenous  
Hip Hop Culture, Local and Global DJ Cultures (EDM, Club Culture,  
Rave, Psy-Trance, Techno, Community and On-Line Radio), the  
Performance and Production of Popular Music in Western and Northern  
Canada, and Interactive Media and Technology. Following the research  
presentation Dr. Marsh will facilitate a roundtable discussion  
entitled, “Hip-Hop Culture in Saskatchewan” with hip hop artists  
Eekwol, Mils, Def3, DJ Quartz, InfoRed, Merky Waters, Truth, ETea,  
and Aries, in Riddell Centre 050.

Following the roundtable, the audience is invited to tour the labs  
and participate in demonstrations (Riddell Centre 049 and RC 025).

The culmination of the launch is a performance by hip-hop artists  
Eekwol and Mils, with special guest Def3. The concert, along with a  
reception, will be held in Riddell Centre 176.
