Dear festival researchers:
A good number of you will be present at the annual NECS conference in London
next week (23-26 June). The three panels that have been submitted by the
FFRN workgroup at NECS and have been accepted are all scheduled to take
place consecutively on Saturday, 25 June 2011 at Birkbeck College. (You can
find the final conference program here: http://www.necs-initiative.org/ )
G6. REGIONAL AND CULTURAL POLITICS AT FILM FESTIVALS (9.00-10.45)
H6. TASTE MAKERS: FILM FESTIVALS AND THEIR RELATION TO FILM AESTHETICS AND
PROGRAMMING (11.15-13.00)
Lunch break 13-14
I7. THE POWER OF THE CIRCUIT: FILM FESTIVALS BETWEEN DISTINCTION, ACTIVISM
AND INDUSTRY (14.00-15.45)
Thanks to the condensed scheduling we will be able to have conversations
about film festival research during the panels and in the breaks. However,
in order to continue those in a casual way we propose to go for drinks at a
place nearby during session J (16.15-18.00) with anyone interested. This
offers room for deeper conversations, but also leaves time for everyone
wanting to attend the keynote lecture by Richard Dyer starting at 18.30h.
Feel free to bring colleagues and friends and join us for a chat!
Cheers,
Skadi + Marijke
