PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

 

African Film Festival, Inc. (AFF) seeks a full-time Program Administrator.
The position involves basic administrative tasks, development, and
curatorial input, planning, and outreach for AFF's programs, e.g., New York
African Film Festival, Summer Outdoor Series, National and International
Traveling Series, and Young Adult Education Program. Some evening and/or
weekend flex hours required.

 

About AFF, Inc.:

African Film Festival (AFF) is dedicated to advancing an enhanced
understanding of African culture through the moving image. It offers diverse
platforms for the wide distribution of African media through its flagship
annual film festival and complementary year-round programming. AFF is
committed to increasing visibility and recognition for African media artists
by introducing African film and culture to a wide range of audiences in the
United States and abroad bypassing economic, class and racial barriers. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

.       Provide administrative support to AFF's Executive Director,
including handling email and phone correspondences, scheduling meetings,
filing, ordering supplies, etc.

.       Coordinate AFF's programs, including managing print traffic, public
performance rights, artists' contracts and fees, cross-marketing and
partnership outreach, etc.

.       Write and update copy on AFF's website using Wordpress

.       Maintain archive database

.       Liaison with filmmakers, distributors, programmers, NYC public
school educators, freelance teaching artists, etc.

.       Research and identify new foundation and/or government prospects for
individual programs and projects as well as general program support

.       Write and prepare letters of inquiry, grant proposals and
applications for support from foundations and government agencies. 

.       Track grant prospects, deadlines, submissions, and awards.

.       Manage routine financial transactions and records; liaison with
bookkeeper/fiscal sponsor;

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

.       Bachelor's degree with two to three years of professional
administrative experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment. 

.       Preferably three years of experience in development 

.       Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

.       Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

.       Exceptional organizational abilities; ability to prioritize multiple
tasks in a fast-paced work environment. 

.       Must be proficient working in a Windows. Fluency in MS Word, MS
Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, QuickBooks, Photoshop, WordPress and online
eMarketing service (iContact) is required. 

.       Must have experience working with Facebook and Twitter.

.       Interest / experience in the arts (international cinema preferred).

.       Foreign Language skills not necessary, but French, Portuguese, and
any African language a plus. 

 

This is an independent contractor position. Wage is commensurate with
experience.  

 

Start Date: Immediately
