It's on! We’re starting the 22nd New Horizons International Film Festival. What can you see on the first day of the festival?
Today, the New Horizons sun rises over the festival and will brighten Wrocław until July 31st. Thanks to online screenings, it will also illuminate the homes of viewers, until August 7th. Ahead of us are a dozen or so wonderful days, during which you will be able to choose from 271 film titles, admire the art scene, wrap yourself in sounds at concerts and discuss cinema (until dawn!) at the Festival Club. We’re starting the 22nd New Horizons International Film Festival!
Io, dir. Jerzy Skolimowski
What will we see on the first day?
This year’s opening film EO by Jerzy Skolimowski received the Jury Prize at Cannes. The gala will start at 19:00 at the New Horizons Cinema (screening room 1), where the director will welcome the attendees. As part of the festival’s opening, we will also present Silent Land – Aga Woszczyńska’s daring debut (20:30, KNH, screening room 9). And today we invite you to screenings of Alcarràs by Carla Simón (20:45, KNH, screening room 2), Godland by Hlynur Pálmason (20:00, KNH, screening room 7), Close by Lukas Dhont (21:00, screening room 8) and Minute Bodies: The Intimate World of F. Percy Smith, about which the director himself - frontman of the Tindersticks band - Stuart Staples, will tell more (20:30, screening room 3).
Starting from 19:00 we invite you to take part in festival talks and other pleasures at the Festival Club located in the space of the City Arsenal. Tenczynek Brewery is this year’s sponsor of the Festival Club.
Exhibition Sun Republic
Friday at the New Horizons
It may be hard to believe, but one does not live by cinema alone. Tomorrow, we also recommend devoting your time to the art scene. At 19:30 we will open the exhibition Sun Republic at the BWA Studio gallery (free admission). From the exhibition, you can walk directly to the National Forum of Music, for a unique Tindersticks concert – starting at 20:30 (tickets are available for purchase).
BWA Wrocław is the co-organizer of the art scene.
