Dear friends, colleagues and collaborators
We are delighted to invite you to the rescheduled New Voices in Cinephilia seminar: Programming Migration Film: A Conversation with Lucila Moctezuma (Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia).
Lucila, a renowned film-maker, educator, curator, and member of the documentary programming committee for FICM, will be joined in conversation by Dr Rachel Johnson, a film festivals researcher at the University of Leeds. Focusing on Mexican film festivals and film culture, Lucila and Rachel will be discussing the ethical questions that curating films about displacement asks us - from foregrounding sometimes associated with migration cinema. The conversation will be followed by an open discussion, in which all attendees are warmly invited to join.
The event will take place on Wednesday 13 December at 4-5pm GMT, on Zoom. To reserve a place and ensure you receive the Zoom details, please sign up via our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/programming-migration-film-a-conversation-with-lucila-moctezuma-tickets-756674342327

New Voices in Cinephilia is an event series led by University of Leeds researchers Rachel Johnson and Stephanie Dennison that brings together academics, PGRs and industry practitioners to scope recent developments in inclusive and decolonising film cultures expressed in new practices of film production, curation and criticism. It is generously supported by the Key Topics in Research Fund (School of Languages, Cultures and Societies, University of Leeds).
If you have any questions about registering for the event, please contact Rachel.
With best wishes
Rachel, Stephanie and Lucila
