<p>In December the first queer film festival in Uganda ever will be held. Quite exceptional! That same month almost 50 Dutch embassies will be screening movies that matter, as a way to celebrate and promote human rights worldwide. Read more below. And join us at festivals worldwide!</p></font>

<td><font size="2" color="#000000" style="font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; "><p>Three film festivals that focus on sexual diversity have been granted financial support. In <strong>Uganda</strong>, the first edition of the Queer Kampala International Film Festival takes place in December 2016. In <strong>Myanmar</strong> the third edition of the &PROUD Yangon LGBT+ Film Festival is held in January 2017 in the capital with screenings in other towns and in <strong>Pakistan</strong> the Aks Film, Art and Dialogue Festival for Minorities Pakistan takes place in March and April 2017 in different cities. </p>

The International Human Rights Film Festival in <strong>Colombia, </strong>focusing on peace, will present 80 films in four different cities. The Censurados Film Festival in <strong>Peru</strong> screens films that are censored in other countries. In <strong>Moldova</strong> the documentary film festival Chesnok (meaning Garlic!) takes place in six different cities. Last but not least, Movies that Matter supports the third edition of the Red Carpet Human Rights Film Festival in <strong>Palestine</strong>.</p>

Screenings are organised on or around the 10th of December - International Human Rights Day - for an audience composed of partners from NGOs, diplomats, business representatives and local people. Movies that Matter made a selection of six films: <em><a href="http://www.moviesthatmatter.nl/english_index/festival/programma_en/film_en/1888" target="_blank" data-system-id="21307.448.1888">Sonita</a> </em>(Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami), <em><a href="http://www.moviesthatmatter.nl/english_index/festival/programma_en/film_en/1996" target="_blank" data-system-id="21307.448.1996">Hooligan Sparrow</a></em> (Nanfu Wang), <em><a href="http://www.casablancacalling.com/" target="_blank">Casablanca Calling</a></em> (Rosa Rogers),<em><a href="http://www.moviesthatmatter.nl/english_index/festival/programma_en/film_en/1959/frame-by-frame" target="_blank"> <em>Frame by Frame</em></a> </em>(Alexandria Bombach / Mo Scarpelli), <a href="http://www.moviesthatmatter.nl/english_index/festival/programma_en/film_en/2008/transit-havana" target="_blank"><em>Transit Havana</em> </a>(Daniel Abma) and <em><a href="http://www.moviesthatmatter.nl/english_index/festival/programma_en/film_en/1989/tuk-tuk-" target="_blank" data-system-id="21307.448.0">Tuk-Tuk</a></em> (Romany Saad). Around 50 embassies will screen the films, followed by debates and discussions about the topics in the films. </p></font>

The HRFN invites directors and producers to have a chat and build new alliances. Human Rights in Film</a> in Warsaw, Poland. Watch Docs is a wordplay for the important role of 'watchdog' organisations. Dirk will be one of the jury members of the festival that will take place from 9 to 15 December. Together with other jury members he will select the winner of the WATCH DOCS Award for best feature-length documentary. Meet him there!</p></font>
