WE ARE HERE meets UNIVERSITY

So many people have used the opportunity that we Are Here offers: A 
chance to meet illegalized migrants.

Can you imagine leaving home, crossing a deadly sea, ending up in a cold 
place, with only question they put to you: when do you go back? If you 
really want to know, you could always go to We Are Here.

So many journalist came to make their reports. So many students with 
their question lists.

Did it help? To change the situation?

The main question we will address is: Where do academia and activism 
meet, and how can they strengthen the other?

We look back on the endeavors of the past six years. The event is hosted 
by Spui25, the University of Amsterdam?s cultural-academic platform.

On Friday the 26th of October, the Schiphol People will commemorate the
Schiphol Fire of 2005.
Eleven illegalized migrant were killed. The lives of many survivors were
destroyed. 

STOP DETENTION of illegalized migrants.

We come together with friends from the Haarlemmermeer at the monument at
Schiphol Oost at 7 p.m.

Op vrijdag 26 oktober vindt de herdenking bij het monument plaats. Op 26
oktober 2005 ging 's avonds laat in het cellencomplex op Schiphol-Oost het
brandalarm af. Het gebouw is inmiddels verplaatst naar Schiphol-West, maar
vlakbij de oude plek staat een klein monument, achter Breguetlaan 67 in Oude
Meer. Hoogtepunt in de sobere herdenking daar is het noemen van de elf namen
van de slachtoffers. Protestkoor Morrend Volk verleent muzikale medewerking.


De herdenking is van 19.00 tot ongeveer 19.30 uur. Iedereen is welkom en
wordt gevraagd om bloemen mee te nemen.
