Since the beginning of this conference series in Derby, England in 2001,
DIVERSE has been intended for anyone interested in embedding video and
video communication (conferencing) technologies within educational
practice: teachers, technical support staff, researchers, staff and
educational developers as well as project managers.
The DIVERSE community provides excellent opportunities for formal and
informal networking with experts in the field from all over the globe. The
conference will be both a showcase and a critical forum on all aspects of
visual resources in education through plenary and themed sessions.
You are invited to submit a presentation proposal and to attend this
conference in order to share your projects and experiences in the fields of
education and video in one of the following topics (details of submission
below):
1. Visual Learning Material – video & learning
Original and innovative use of video in education
Rich video as learning object
Video in multimodal learning environments
Video & learning analytics
Pedagogical techniques to design video-based educational resources
2. Working with video in education
New technologies to produce, manage and distribute video
Video and mobile
Creative concepts for video
Visual Literacy
Interactive video: Annotating, tagging, and collaborative use of video
3. Open Access, Open Source, Open Educational Resources – Open Video
Licensing and intellectual property rights, Creative Commons
Video in open educational environments
Visual media and people with special needs
Closed captioning, audio description, subtitles – technologies and
experience
4. Improving Access to Knowledge in Developing Countries
The use of video for dissemination of scientific results: Best
practice, field reports
Addressing the technical restrictions
5. Projects & Use Cases
Interesting projects or experiments that highlight other issues related
to the use of visual media in education. This topic bundles all experiences
or ideas you have and want to share with the DIVERSE community.
Submitting a paper
An abstract with a minimum of 500 words
Single-line spaced, font style Arial (size 14 for title and authors and
size 12 for body). All margins must be one inch (2.5 cm).
Accuracy for all material supplied is the responsibility of the author.
The text must be spell-checked and any technical material must be clear.
All text, drawings, tables, photographs, figures and references should
be provided within the paper
All proposals must be submitted via the online submission form.
Submissions based mainly on films are welcome; please contact
organizers for details.

Presentation modes
According to review results, participants will be invited to present in one
of the following forms:
Regular talk (25 minutes & QA)
Lightning Talks (10 minutes)
