Rutgers University and the Mason Gross School of the Arts seek a visionary
filmmaker as Director of the Digital Filmmaking Center and as the first Henry
Rutgers Term Professor in Digital Filmmaking. The successful candidate will
be an experienced practitioner and educator with an active record as a
filmmaker and a national or international reputation. He or she will have a
broad understanding of contemporary film practice and a desire to shape an
innovative program in the light of major changes in film production and
distribution. We are seeking a Director with vision and leadership who will
work with the faculty and administration of Mason Gross School of the Arts
to articulate and cultivate a strong identity for the program. The Center
will welcome its first class of 25 BFA students in the fall of 2015, and
the Director will oversee and administer this new program, will supervise
the Center’s faculty and staff and execute its budgets. He or she will
teach appropriate aspects of digital filmmaking, editing, and production
and will develop the curriculum and build collaborations with faculty and
staff across the university. The successful candidate will have an
appropriate terminal degree and extensive experience and record of
professional work in digital filmmaking. The Filmmaking Center seeks to
train the next generation of media professionals to be both technically
adroit filmmakers and intellectually informed artists; the holder of the
professorship will be a key player in realizing that vision.

*Qualifications:* BFA or MFA degree in filmmaking or Ph.D. in related
field, with appropriate professional experience

*Rank:* An advanced assistant or associate professor of professional
practice, or, if the successful candidate holds a traditional Ph.D., one
nearing tenure or already tenured at another university. The position of
Director of the Digital Filmmaking Center will be ongoing. The Henry
Rutgers Professorship is for a five year term.

*Salary:* Commensurate with experience.

*Starting Date:* Preferred start date July 1, 2015

*Deadline:* The committee will begin reviewing applications in April 2015
and will continue until the position is filled.
