Dear All,

This is a reminder for all of you, whether you are a panel/workshop
chair or aiming to submit an individual paper proposal to the SCMS for
consideration for the 2012 conference in Boston.

The official deadline is THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st. To avoid unwelcome
internet issues, SCMS suggests that you aim to submit your proposal at
the latest on AUGUST 31st. We will send an update on the number of
panel/workshop proposals in early September, once they have been confirmed.

Skadi and I have been very impressed by the great number and high
quality of the proposals this year, and are looking forward to a very
successful conference, with strong representation from those working on
festivals. Where proposals simply could not find a place on a
panel/workshop, we asked that people submit theirs as an individual
paper. We have been working very hard behind the scenes, along with
other panel/workshop chairs, to coordinate and accommodate as many as
possible.

Please note: December 16 is the FINAL day to become an SCMS member if
proposal is selected (5 pm CT), as well as the FINAL day to register for
the conference if proposal is selected (5 pm CT).

Moreover, please remember to join SCMS's Film and Media Festival
Scholarly Interest Group on the society's website. Membership is without
any added cost. Your membership would be greatly appreciated by the rest
of the group and materially acknowledged by the society.

Warm late-summer wishes!

Your Co-Chairs,

Skadi Loist <skadi.loist at uni-hamburg.de>

Ger Zielinski <geraldzielinski at trentu.ca>
