Symposium on Political Documentary:


Waves of Revolution!

12 April 2013, Screening of Secret City (2012) by Michael Chanan, School 3, 7pm

13 April 2013, SYMPOSIUM Gateway Boardroom St Andrews


Drawing on Anand Patwardhan’s concept of Waves of Revolutions, this symposium will screen fragments of revolutionary films, and explore the documentary’s artistic responses to revolutions through the decades.


We will discuss the representation of various revolutionary moments, ranging from anti-imperialist filmmaking from the sixties and seventies through to the present-day revolutions of the Arab Spring.
