Saturday at the New Horizons
It’s been an intense week, so now indulge in debauchery and pleasure with a (un)clean conscience on festival Saturday. To do so, it’s best to turn your attention to the Alain Robbe-Grillet retrospective and the Avec Plaisir section and exhibition, which explore the erotic sensibility associated with BDSM culture. Additionally, we recommend engaging in other activities within the Art Scene, attending Q&A sessions (today’s program includes 6 meetings with 7 filmmakers), and in the evening, we invite you to a concert by Spaleniak and the duo SARAPATA, as well as various activities in the Festival Backyard (including speed dating in Surowiec). This evening, we’ll find out the recipients of the Grand Prix, Audience Award, and the Zuzanna Jagoda Kolska Award (Shortlist) during the awards ceremony starting at 19:00.
Robbe-Grillet's cinema is an original, fascinating phenomenon that defies simple categorization. His enigmatic yet erudite, humorous, and intellectually playful films are saturated with intensely and perversely erotic images. The Avec Plaisir section serves as a counterpoint to Robbe-Grillet's free-thinking but unambiguously male and heterosexual perspective, providing a platform for more diverse, especially female and queer, points of view.

Before sunrise at the Market Square
On the screen: young Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, while in front of the screen: the audience savoring one of the most beautiful love stories in the history of cinema. Jesse (Hawke) and Celine (Delpy) met by chance. They don’t think about the future; they test how tender the night is, experience the age of innocence, and create their own love story with each passing minute. The screening of Richard Linklater’s cult film will begin at 22:00. Admission is free, subject to seat availability.
  Concert: Spaleniak, SARAPATA
A concert by Daniel Spaleniak and the SARAPATA brothers will begin at 22:30 at Bulvary. Spaleniak is a 30-year-old musician, producer, composer, and songwriter whose ethereal, blues-folk tunes have generated a lot of interest in the US market. His compositions can be heard in popular productions such as Ozark (Netflix), Elementary (CBS), Six (History Channel), Good Behavior (TNT), Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence (Hulu) and Shooter (Paramount). He is the only Pole whose work has been so heavily featured in American film productions.
SARAPATA, or Michał and Mateusz Sarapata, used to form the group SALK, which mainly used classical instruments to create dreamy, almost fairy-tale-like narratives. After hours, the Sarapatas put aside their guitars to give way to their greatest love – electronic music, more precisely techno, which, in their performance, is far from banal. These are colorful, rich, organic, and pulsating sounds that make you dance and resemble introductions to a ritual.
Admission to the gig is free, subject to capacity, with the presentation of a pass, accreditation, or ticket from any festival film.

Art and the Festival Backyard on the horizon
Those craving non-film art will also find solace at the SiC! gallery of BWA and the BWA Studio gallery, where you can enjoy (respectively) the exhibitions From Within and Avec Plasir. We also encourage you to visit the Wrocław Old Town Hall, where Kasia Kmita’s exhibition, Contrafactur, awaits. At IP Studio today you can experience the new Ambient Room for the last time.
Later in the evening, be sure to stop by the Festival Backyard, where the crews of the Recepcja and Surowiec clubs will invariably be waiting for you with all sorts of delights. At 20:00, new horizons of love, or speed dating, will begin at Surowiec, and two hours later, the July rainbow valentine’s day will take off under the theme Different Dimensions of Love. At 22:00, you’ll get a chance to get your dance moves on at Recepcja, where Pejzaż and DJ Duch will play.
  Coffee, my glorious coffee
And more. A wide variety of savory and sweet snacks await you at the New Horizons Cinema bistro, including those from Dobra Kaloria, as well as NITRO cold brew, Fritz Kola and oodles of other refreshments. The cinema bistro is a perfect place to satisfy your non-film hunger in between screenings.
