Unfortunately the “critical” voice about Facebook in the US is Zeynep Tufekci who is either clueless about social theory (e.g., her notion of authoritarian reveals a complete absence of the theoretical underpinnings and history of thought and critique about power and communication) or is purposefully channeling critical inclinations and impulses into very narrow collaborationist terms (thereby doing the work of reactionary, soft reform that the corporations require in this context). Even having a journalist like Glenn Greenwald as this “critical” voice would be much better.

In an age of ?free? social media, paying might sound implausible ? but keep in mind that payment better aligns the incentives of the platform with those of its users.
