A collaboration between V2_, Maki Ueda and the independent broadcaster  
and media producer DIRECTIONS from Tokyo, Japan.

Come to the official of Palm Top Theater opening on Friday, January 21  
from 17:00 and on!
We’ll toast the new year with the artists and creators.
There’ll be great music, free drinks, delicious snacks, mind boggling  
videos and animation – all in 3D!"
The exhibition will continue the next day on until February 13. Open  
daily from 13:00 to 19:00 (closed on Mondays).

The International Film Festival Rotterdam has brought cinema to the  
large screen. We think that the intimacy of small mobile screens are  
giving new impulses to the cinematic experience. V2_ will present a  
series of films and animations small enough to watch in the palm of  
your hand.

Acquaint yourself with a new 3D film experience on the iPhone or iPad  
at the Palm Top Theater exhibition. V2_ initiated a workshop for  
students to produce specific content for this simple but efficient  
device for 3D viewing. Also artists were invited to come up with  
special productions for the device. All of this can be viewed at the  
Palm Top Theatre exhibition at V2_. Allready 1 miljon viewers have  
been looking at the introduction movie V2_ launched on YouTube for  
this exhibition - http://www.v2.nl/events/palm-top-theater
The exhibition will travel to different cities around the world and  
produce new content at each location. Part of the exhibition will also  
become part of the exhibition "Otherworldly"  of the Museum of Art and  
Design in New York.

Visitors will experience film and animation in a way that is  
strikingly similar to pre-cinema, when watching a moving image was an  
intimate and individual experience. At the same time, the Palm Top  
Theater will offer a glimpse of a cinema of the future in which the  
developments in mobile communication technology and the changing roles  
of users and producers will have a profound effect on the future of  
cinema.

New artworks for the Palm Top Theater exhibition have been developed  
by the following artists: Joost Rekveld (NL), Geert Mul (NL), Lia  
(AT), Arno Coenen (NL), and Lina Kusaite (BE) together with Performing  
Pictures (BE/SE).

Thanks very much to our workshop leaders: Kasper van der Horst and  
Denise Pakes. The participating students/artists: Emmanuel Flores
