Saturday with Bonello’s trail
The plan for Saturday? We’re breaking the boundaries of drama, playing with genres, and experimenting with narrative and hybrid forms. This means delving into the work of Bertrand Bonello, the focus of our retrospective and special guest at New Horizons. Today, you can watch four films by the French maestro and attend his masterclass at 4:15 pm (admission is free, but you need to pick up a free pass or reserve a seat with your festival pass or accreditation). The retrospective is supported by Visa and the French Institute.
Apollonide, dir. Bertrand Bonello

Monst(h)er Talk #1 | 8:45 pm
Like the mythological Chimera with a lion’s head, a goat’s body, and snake’s tail, MONST(H)ER TALKS blend diverse elements, exploring topics from cinema, literature, art, feminist theory, and politics. Following select films from the Third Eye: Other Monsters section, hosts Aleksandra Nowak and Zofia Krawiec invite you to discuss the symbolism behind specific titles, the real stories they uncover, and the concept of female monstrosity and its relevance today. The first meeting starts today after the screening of Swimming Home by Justin Anderson.
Premiere of the music video Powiedz mi jak? (Tell me how?) | Market Square, 10:00 pm
As part of Cinema at the Market Square, today we will be treated not only to a movie, but also to the premiere of a remarkable music video. Featured on screen will be Bedoes, Monika Brodka, Martyna Wojciechowska, Adam Małysz, Krzysztof Hołowczyc, Robert Makłowicz and most notably, Piotr Fronczewski as the leading voice. What unites such a diverse group? They all unite in the song-manifesto Powiedz mi jak? (Tell Me How?).DOBRY, the creator of the song, describes it as a contemporary desideratum. It is an attempt to stop for a moment in a world of constant rushing, virtual reality, and the curse of comparison. The song was produced in collaboration with music producer Kuba Galiński, and the video was directed by Tadeusz Śliwa. The project is supported by Martyna Wojciechowska’s UNAWEZA Foundation and the YOUNG HEADS. Openly about mental health initiative (Polish: MŁODE GŁOWY. Otwarcie o zdrowiu psychicznym).
#PijKranówkę: water bar at New Horizons Cinema
On any journey, whether a physical one or a cinematic one, it’s good to keep yourself hydrated – especially during hot July days. Thanks to a partnership with Wrocław’s MPWiK, you can enjoy fresh, mineral-rich tap water for free at the New Horizons Cinema. Located on the second floor, the water bar is part of the city’s #PijKranówka social campaign. Bring your bottles or bidons, or use the available cups at the stand, and we’ll see you on the festival trail. The water bar on the second floor is available daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, with additional water carafes also available on the first floor during bistro hours.
Festival yoga
Sitting through multiple screenings a day can take a toll on your back. Although we have offered an exceptionally busy program this year (Let’s Go section, Art Scene in its entirety), it’s important to take care of your body. That’s why, in collaboration with Akademia Ruchu, we’re offering yoga sessions for festival-goers every day until 28 at 11:30 am at 47/48a Ruska Street.
Single classes cost 25 PLN with the presentation of a pass/accreditation/festival ticket. To sign up, simply scan the QR code, create an account, and register for a chosen day. Coffee, my great coffee....
And so much more. This year, we’re taking care of your palates in collaboration with Dominika Chomicz, chef at Sąsiedzi Bakery, and Jakub Wróblewski, known for his simple and tasty recipes on Instagram as @gotujzdiego. Together, we’ve curated a unique selection of culinary delights for you. To cool down on hot days, we recommend Fritz Cola or non-alcoholic Lech. Where can you find these treats? At the New Bistro in the New Horizons Cinema. Remember, with a special festival Visa card, each coffee at the bistro will cost only 5 PLN.
Festival Club at the Arsenal: ZAMILSKA | 00:30 am
ZAMILSKA’s music has heavy, rhythmic, bass-filled sounds. The first association: techno. However, it exceeds the definition of this genre, oscillating between electronica, world music, and noise. Every ZAMILSKA concert is a lively dose of monstrous bass and powerful beats, putting the audience into a dancing trance. She has delighted the likes of Iggy Pop, Mary Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft, Nine Inch Nails, and us (signed: New Horizons). ZAMILSKA will take the stage thirty minutes after midnight, but you can enter the Arsenal Festival Club as early as 8:00 pm. Entry requires either a film ticket from a given day of this year's festival or a pass/accreditation.
See you there?

Voting for competition films: the Votemo system
The future is now. This year we say goodbye to paper coupons, and welcome a new electronic system for voting for New Horizons International Competition films. Before the screenings of the competition films, we will display boards with a QR code on the cinema screens, while after the screenings you will find special stands in front of the auditorium, also with a QR code, which will lead you to the intuitive, easy-to-use Votemo system – the voting platform. The film that gets the most votes will be the winner of the Audience Award.
Poster exhibition | opening at 8:00 pm
They delight: with creativity, bravura, and diversity of techniques. We are talking about the new generation of graphic designers, who not only continue the tradition of the Polish School of Posters, but expand the horizons of this unique art. You can admire their works on the second floor of the New Horizons Cinema, and today at 8:00 pm you are invited to the opening of the exhibition.
